What I Think I Know About Stuff

It is a widely held belief that water goes down the drain in a clockwise direction on one side of the equator and counter-clockwise on the other.  But does it?  This video seems to show the answer quite clearly.

A quick search and cursory read of posts about the Coriolis effect however seems to refute the validity of it and make me wonder if  PT Barnum was right and that “There’s a sucker born every minute.”  Oh wait… you mean that was actually said by someone else?

Sigh, next you will tell me there is no Great Pumpkin… Some of my harmless misconceptions should just be enjoyed.

  1. That’s a fun misconception to be deflated. But at least we can count ourselves among the non-suckers!
